The latest colour variants for Birman Cats are the colours
Cinnamon and Fawn

RiBo´s Cinnamon + Fawn KittenAlready known for Siamese, Balinese, Javanese and Oriental Cats and seen on many photos the colours Cinnamon and Fawn are not known for Birman Cats by many people. They are existing, but not shown, yet. This is not because of they are not attractive, but of the problem to breed the colours into this race on a broad base. The reason is the genetic problem this colour being recessive what means that many of cats are needed to breed a proper type of Birma Cat without adding incest and healthy problems.

We would like to introduce in this place both colours due to the fact that most of the Birma Cat breeders and fanciers don't have idea about it. Cinnamon- and Fawn-Point are spred even very rarely amongst other pointed cats and not known sometimes.

Rarely a colour is more significant for Cinnamon than the word cinnamon itself.

One needs to know the colour Cinnamon does NOT have a ticking like Sorrel. Although Sorrel is based on the Cinnamon gene 'bl' it bears at the same time the Agouti gene A and a tabby allel which shows the typical Abessyn Tabby. In the case Sorrel means a Tabby Pattern Specification.

Therefor the colour Cinnamon looks different for Non-Agouti-Cats (Cats without abessyn/somali typical tabby marking). In all it is a strong BROWN which could be compared to the colour of a deer. It is without that strong touch of RED like SORREL .

This is obvious comparing Javanese and Oriental Cats in this colour.

For Pointed Cats this Colour is being changed slightly.

RiBo´s Cinnamon-PointBecause of the homozygot mask-gene cs the shade of the colour Cinnamon is a little bit lighter like for other colours. The colour is now not that strong or intense like for totally coloured cats. It looks like a warm BROWN like cinnamon, but not RED or CHOCOLATE.

Cinnamon-Point can NOT be mixed up or confused with Red-Point. Both colours have a totally different genetic base and heredity. They are based on two different melanin type and therefor look different in appearance.

The dilution colour for Cinnamon is called FAWN
- for masked cats FAWN-POINT

It is a little bit more difficlut to describe the colour fawn. One needs to see a cat in this colour. In english young deeres are called fawn. The colour FAWN or FAWN-POINT looks a little bit different. The colour shade has not that intense than the colour of this young deeres. The colour seems to be more gentle or lighter. It can be compared as a type of 'beige' colored beach sand.

Compared to LILAC it shows more shade of warm  BROWN, nearly like CREAM. The difference can be found having a look at the nose leather which is coloured light brown for a fawn-point and a nose leather in pink for a cream-point.

RiBo´s Cinnamon-PointThere are slight nuances in shading for both colours Cinnamon and Fawn like for all other colours. This is especially for the red shade: is it to less with red the colours look cold, but if the shading is strong the colours are warm and seems to shine.

Maybe you happen to see a birman cat
in this colour on a show.
Then it is up to you to decide wether you the same enthusiastic for the colours Cinnamon and Fawn
.
